Emrah Samur (27) who was kidnapped from Koçyiğit Village of Şemdinli District of Hakkâri Province in the beginning of October 2009 was reportedly killed by unknown assailants on 30 October 2009 (Vatan, 31 October).

Mustafa Kulbilge (60) who had been detained and then arrested in Hayrabolu District of Tekirdağ Province on 6 October 2009 died due to heart attack in Tekirdağ F Type Closed Prison on 31 October 2009 (Milliyeti 31 October).

Zaman Newspaper’s reporter İsmail Çıtak was beaten by private security officers of the Samatya Training and Research Hospital (in İstanbul Province) as he was trying to photograph an incident on 30 October 2009 (Zaman, 30 October).

It is reported on 28 October 2009 that the letters of the prisoners of Muş E Type Closed Prison to their relatives were not sent on the grounds that they are “objectionable” (Günlük, 31 October).

The administration of Sincan F Type Closed Prison No. 2 reportedly sentenced Sadık Daştan to month of solitary confinement without showing a reason on 1 November 2009 (Gündem, 1 November).

İstanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 14 sentenced Azadiya Welat Newspaper with hold of publication for one month in connection with the news published in its issue dated on 29 October 2009 on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” on 30 October 2009 (ANF, 30 October).

İstanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 10 began to hear the case against the 38 people –two of them pre-trial detainees Serpil Arslan, Socialist Platform of the Oppresseds’ (ESP) Bursa Province representative and Veli Görgün- who were detained in the operations in Bursa Province on 24 December 2008 and released the pre-trial detainees. The hearing was postponed to 2 March 2010 (atilim.org, 30 October).

Police teams interfered the protest of the Solidarity Association of the Prisoners’ Families (Tutuklu Hükümlü Aileleri Yardımlaşma Derneği (TAYAD)) for the release of the prisoner Güler Zere who is a cancer patient and detained seven people in Elazığ Province on 31 October 2009 (Radikal, 31 October).
