As the result of the explosion of a mine that occurred in Çukurca district Hakkari province on 30 March 2010 the NCO Mehmet Kaya Çelik, Nuri Aydın and Fatih Aydoğdu died and the NCO Salih Önsal and Arif Kılıç were wounded (ntvmsnbc.com, 30 March).
(03/140) COConscientious objector on trial...
The trial against Enver Aydemir who had been arrested on his way to a congress on conscientious objection (CO) in Istanbul on 24 December 2009 concluded at at Eskişehir Military Court on 29 March 2010.
During the hearing Enver Aydemir stated that he had not done compulsory military service because of his beliefs and even if he would be acquitted he would not do it. The court sentenced Enver Aydemir to 10 months' imprisonment because he had deserted. Regarding the time he had spent in prison he was released. It was announced that Enver Aydemir will be taken to his unit in Bilecik (ANF, 30 March).

On 30 March 2010 Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 4 sentenced Vedat Kurşun, former editor-in-chief and owner of the paper Azadiya Wealt to three years' imprisonment under Article 6 of the Law to Fight Terrorism (LFT) for having published statements of an illegal organization in the editions of 11 August 2007 and 12 August 2007 (ntvmsnbc.com, 30 March).

On 30 March 2010 the trial against M.İ., M.Y., E.G., C.İ., K.K. and M.B. alleged with having thrown stones at the security forces in Şırnak at various dates in 2009 concluded. Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 5 sentenced the six children to 7 years, 5 months' imprisonment for having conducted an action in the name of an illegal organization without being a member of it, having made propaganda for an illegal organization and having violated Law 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations (ntvmsnbc.com, 30 March).

In an operation against alleged members members of Koma Ciwaken Kurdistan (Union of Kurdish Communities) KCK/TMKCK Par lament Turkey (Turkey Assembly) 12 people were detained in Eskişehir on 30 March 2010 (Zaman, 30 March).
