(06/122) Incidents before the general election for the deputies on 12 June 2011 and extra-judicial killing…
Several people had been wounded in the explosion during the celebration of the victory of the independent deputy candidates supported by the Labour, Freedom and Democracy Blog in Silopi District of Şırnak Province in the night of 12 June 2011. Hatice İdin (54) had been in the group that was hospitalising the wounded people, was effected from the gas bombs that were used in the intervention of the law-enforcement officers to the group, died in Cizre State Hospital on 29 June 2011 (Evrensel, 29 June).

Mustafa Bacaksız allegedly committed suicide in M Type Prison in Silifke District of Mersin Province on 29 June 2011. He has been a pre-trial detainee on charges of “homicide” (ANF, 29 June).
(06/124) The case on the murder of Hrant Dink…
Istanbul Heavy Penal Court for Juveniles No. 2 went on hearing the fourth hearing of the case against Ogün Samast in connection with the murder of Hrant Dink on 19 January 2007 on charges of “homicide” on 29 June 2011.
In the last hearing Ogün Samast made his legal argument after the prosecutor’s legal argument of the on the essence of the case and Samast asked for additional time to prepare his legal argument. The court accepted the demand and adjourned the hearing to 25 July 2011 (Zaman; Radikal, 29 June).

Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 11 went on hearing the case against 23 members of the Democratic Society Party’s (DTP) Women Assembly including the Peace and Democracy Party’s (BDPPeace and Democracy Party ) Istanbul Deputy, Sebahat Tuncel, on charges of “praising crime and criminal” under the Article of 215/1 of TPCTurkish Penal Code on 29 June 2011.
The court repeat its previous adjudication that Sebahat Tuncel “will be brought to the court without a date by force” on the grounds that Sebahat Tuncel’s legal argument could not be taken despite the court’s adjudication for Tuncel to be brought by force and adjourned the hearing (Radikal, 29 June).
(06/126) Interventions to the protests against the verdict of YSK against Hatip Dicle…
Five out of the 42 people who had been detained in the intervention against the protest against the verdict of the High Election Commission (YSK) in İstanbul Province on 26 June 2011 were arrested on 29 June 2011 (bianet.org, 29 June).
The High Election Commission (YSK) had unanimously disapproved the deputyship of Hatip Dicle who had been elected in the general election from Diyarbakır Province on 12 June 2011 on bases of the Article 79 of the Constitution on 21 June 2011. He had been sentenced to 20 months of imprisonment on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” under Article 7/2 of Fighting with Terrorism Law and his sentenced was approved by the Supreme Court of Appeals just few days before the election. The Article 79 of the Constitution defines the criteria to be deputy candidate and according to the article persons who were sentenced to more a year of imprisonment from crimes related with terrorism could not be candidates.

Twelve people were detained in home raids on charges of “being a member of KCKUnion of Communities in Kurdistan ” in Adana Province on 29 June 2011 (Zaman, 29 June).
İsa Gürbüz and Sabri Acar out of the five people who had been detained in home raids on charges of “being a member of KCK” in Elazığ Province on 28 June 2011 were arrested on 29 June 2011. İsa gürbüz was an independent deputy candidate supported by the Labour, Freedom and Democracy Blog but his candidature was annulled by the High Election Board (ANF, 29 June).
