(08/124) Random Firing in Gaziantep Province…
İbrahim Ozkaymak (41) was killed with the “warning fire” of the police officer A.G. who was quarrelling with a driver in Gaziantep Province on 28 August 2009. Police officer A.G. was arrested on 29 August 2009 (CHA, 29 August).

(08/125) Operations and clashes in South-east…
A soldier was wounded in the operation in Tunceli Province on 28 August 2009 (Milliyet, 28 August). Four soldiers were killed and a soldier was wounded in the explosion of a hand grenade reportedly thrown by Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKKKurdish Workers' Party ) armed wing People’s Defence Forces (HPGPeople's Defence Forces (armed wing of the PKK) ) militants in Derecik Municipality of Semdinli District of Hakkari Province on30 August 2009 (ntvmsnbc.com, 31 August).

(08/126) Explosion in Kızıltepe District…
Ali Ozdemir and Halime Ozdemir were wounded in the explosion of a material they had found in the military field exercise zone in Kızıltepe District of Mardin Province on 30 August 2009 (aknews.com, 30 August).

(08/127) Coercion in prison…
The families of the pre-trial detainees who had been detained in home raids in Gaziantep Province in the morning of 21 August 2009 applied to Human Rights Association’s (HRAHuman Rights Association /IHD) Gaziantep Branch on 28 August 2009 and claimed that seven pre-trial detainees were tortured in prison. Three of the pre-trial detainees are under 18 and one of them is cancer patient (Evrensel, 29 August).

(08/128) Banned poster…
Ankara Governorate banned the posters that were prepared to announce the protest meeting against the coup d’etat on 12 September 1980 on the grounds that “the State seniors were insulted” in the posters on 29 August 2009 (TİHV, 29 August).
Burdur Security Directorate confiscated the posters prepared by the Federation of Consumers Associations (TUDEF) to protest the increase in oil prices on the grounds that “Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the State was insulted” in the posters on 29 August 2009 (Cumhuriyet, 29 August).

(08/129) Detentions and arrests…
Workers Peasants (İsci Koylu) Newspaper’s Kartal Office worker Suzan Zengin and a reader of the newspaper Gokhan Sarıtoprak were detained in İstanbul Province on 28 August 2009 (atilim.org, 28 August).
