Zeki Dökenel (65), a paralysed prisoner from Bilecik M Type Closed Prison, died in front of the İstanbul Forensic Medicine Institute as he was waiting to get a medical report on his condition on 28 November 2009 (atilim.org, 28 November).
(12/002) Extra-judicial killing attempt in Konya Province…
S.K. (16) was seriously wounded with the fire of the police team that was evaluating a theft complaint in Şerife Akkanat Primary School and fired to three juveniles whom were allegedly got out of the school in Selçuklu District of Konya Province in the night of 27 November 2009. An investigation was launched against the four police officers (ntvmsnbc.com, 28 November).
(12/003) Incidents in the demonstrations to attract attention to the prison conditions of Abdullah Öcalan…
Several incidents took place in the 31st anniversary of the foundation of Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKKKurdish Workers' Party ) (27 November 1978) and in the demonstrations to attract attention to the prison conditions of Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı F Type Closed Prison.
Ş.A. (16) and an unidentified person were wounded in the intervention of police teams to the demonstration in Mersin Province on 28 November 2009.
S.T. (17) and M.T. (19) were wounded with the fire from Justice and Development Party’s (AKPJustice and Development Party ) Kayapınar District Branch Building in the demonstration in Diyarbakır Province on 29 November 2009. It is claimed that the wounded demonstrators were detained and their medical treatment was hindered.
The demonstrators threw patrol bombs to AKP Kayapınar District Branch Building and Social Solidarity and Communes Association (Toplumsal Dayanışma ve Şura Derneği).
Six people were wounded in the intervention of police teams with gas bombs to the demonstration in Yüksekova District of Hakkâri Province on 30 November 2009.
Twenty people were detained in the protests in Siirt Province on 30 November 2009 (atilim.org; ntvmsnbc.com; ANF; Gündem; sol.org.tr, 28 November, 29 November, 30 November).
(12/004) Impunity in Torture and ill-treatment in detention…
On 3 November 2009 Bursa Chief Public Prosecution Office decided that there is no need to further investigation on the official complaint against seven police officers who allegedly tortured Ender Bulhaz Aktürk in detention in Kestel District and Bursa Province Security Directorate after he had been detained in Kestel District as the suspect of the murder of a police officer İsmail Özbek on 18 March 2009 on the grounds that the seven officers used “proportional force in apprehension”.
Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute documented the torture in detention with its report dated on 20 March 2009 (ozgurradyo.com, 30 November).

Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 11 restricted the access to the news website, http://www.haberforum.net, with its verdict No. 2009/7088 on 04 November 2009 (Gündem, 26 November).

Kurtuluşun Yolunda DevGenç Magazine was sentenced with ban of publication for fifteen days in connection with its issue No. 3 which was published in November 2009 on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” on 26 November 2009. The court also confiscated the issue (dev-genc.org, 26 November).

Viranşehir Penal Court of First Instance sentenced Adnan Etli, Halis Aktaş, Fatma Silgir, Ferzende Ata, Zelal Özkan, Salih Şeyhun and Selahattin İzci to 17 years and 6 months of imprisonment in total in connection with attending to a protest in Viranşehir District of Şanlıurfa Province in 2008 on charges of “opposing to the Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations” on 26 November 2009 (LNA, 26 November).

Four people attacked on Democratic Society Party’s (DTP) District Branch Building in Marmara Ereğlisi District of Tekirdağ Province on 29 November 2009. Attacker dismantled the door plate when they could not get inside the building (Gündem, 30 November).
