Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 4 went on hearing the case against Aysel Tuğluk the former co-chairperson of the Democratic Society Party (DTP) in connection with her 12 different speeches between 2005 and 2009 on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” under Article 7/2 of Fighting with Terrorism Law on 26 May 2011.
Aysel Tuğluk’s lawyer Fethi Gümüş stated that the defendant could not participate in the hearings due to her election campaigns and asked for time for their legal argument. The court accepted the demand and adjourned the hearing (ANF, 26 May).

On 26 May 2011 Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 10 sentenced journalist Saadet Irmak to 15 days of imprisonment on charges of “praising crime and criminal” under the Article of 215/1 of TPCTurkish Penal Code , to 20 months of imprisonment and a judicial fine of 16.660 TL on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” under Article 7/2 of Fighting with Terrorism Law in connection with two articles published in newspapers (bianet.org, 27 May).

Fourteen students in Ankara; 2 students in Gaziantep and a person in Nusaybin District of Mardin Province who had been detained in the synchronised operation of the fighting with terror department officers in five cities on 24 May 2011 were arrested on charges of “being a member of an illegal organisation –KCKUnion of Communities in Kurdistan ” on 26 May 2011 (Zaman; ANF, 26 May).
