(11/088) Intervention to the demonstrations in Yüksekova ve Cizre Districts…
E.B. (15) was seriously wounded from his eye with the hit of the shell of the gas bomb in the intervention of law-enforcement officers to the celebration of the anniversary of the founding day of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKKKurdish Workers' Party ) in 1978 in Yüksekova District of Hakkâri Province on 27 November 2010 (ANF, 28 November).
A child whose name was not mentioned was seriously wounded from his eye with the hit of the shell of the gas bomb in the intervention of law-enforcement officers to the celebration in Cizre District of Şırnak Province on 27 November 2010 (ANF, 27 November).
(11/089) Ongoing JİTEM case…
Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 6 went on hearing the case after the unification of the cases against JITEM (Gendarmerie Intelligence and Fight against Terrorism) members on the murders by unknown assailants, bombings and sabotages in Diyarbakır, Mardin, Batman and Şırnak Provinces in the beginning of 1990s on the grounds that the cases were based on same charges on 26 November 2010.
The lawyers of the defendant claimed that their clients had been serving their obligatory military service in the time of crimes and the real perpetrators are their superiors. The court published an apprehension warranty against Abdülkadir Aygan who has been living in Sweden and adjourned the hearing to 7 January 2011 (LNA, 26 November).
(11/090) Tried conscientious objector to military service…
İnan Suver who had declared his conscientious objection to military service in 2001 and had been detained in home raid in Bayrampaşa District of İstanbul Province on 6 August 2010 and then arrested on the grounds that he is “draft dodger”, was hospitalised against his will and reports that documents that he was “unsuitable for military service” and he does not have “criminal capacity” were given for him, reported on 28 November 2010.
İnan Suver will be send to Buca Prison for the execution of 25 months of imprisonment sentences due to his desertion attempts (Radikal, 28 November).

On 25 November 2010 Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 4 sentenced Abdulrezzak Yıldız, the Mayor of Balveren Municipality of Şırnak Province, to 7 years and 1 month of imprisonment in connection with attending to a protest on 15 February 2010 on charges of “committing offence on behalf of an organisation although he is not a member” under Article 220/6 of TPCTurkish Penal Code and “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” under Article 7/2 of Fighting with Terrorism Law (Evrensel, 26 November).

On 26 November 2010 Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 12 sentenced Hasan Aksoy, Bahtiyar Doğruyol, Berna Yılmaz and Melis Ciddioğlu to 10 months of imprisonment in connection with selling confiscated Emperyalizme ve Oligarşiye Karşı Yürüyüş Magazine on 23 August 2009 on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” under Article 7/2 of Fighting with Terrorism Law (Zaman, 26 November).

Izmir Heavy Penal Court No. 10 sentenced 14 defendants, including Dicle News Agency (DİHA) reporter İbrahim Açıkyer, to ten months of imprisonment in connection with attending a symposium organized by the Konak District Youth Parliament of the banned pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP) on 27 July 2006 in Izmir Province on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” under Article 7/2 of Fighting with Terrorism Law on 25 November 2010 (bianet.org, 16 November).

Kağızman Penal court of Peace sentenced Yaşar Özlü, the former chair of the Peace and Democracy Party’s (BDPPeace and Democracy Party ) Kağızman (Kars) District Branch, to 12 months of imprisonment in connection with the public statement in 2009 on charges of “praising crime and criminal” under the Article of 215/1 of TPC on 26 November 2010 (ANF, 26 November).

Batman Chief Public Prosecution Office launched a case against M. Kemal Çelik and Ercan Atay, the owner and editor-in-chief of the Batman Postası Newspaper respectively, in connection with the interview published in the paper on 9 August 2010 with the family of Mahsum Korkmaz, an executive of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKK) on charges of “praising crime and criminal” under the Article of 215/1 of TPC reported on 28 November 2010. The first hearing of the case will be held in Batman Penal Court of First Instance on 13 December 2010 (batmanpostasigazetesi.com, 28 Aralık).

Police teams raided on the Youth Culture Centre (Gençlik Kültür Merkezi (GKM)) with the verdict of Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 11 in Ankara Province on 27 November 2010 and detained 46 people on the grounds that they are “in preparation of action” (TİHV, 28 November).

Police teams interfered the sit-in strike of the 57 workers’ of Akdeniz Nail and Wire Factory who had been fired on the grounds that they became a member of a trade union in Republican People Party’s (CHPRepublican People's Party ) Mersin Province Branch office and detained all of them on 25 November 2010. They were released after their interrogation in Mersin Security Directorate (ANF, 26 November).

S.Ö. (17) was arrested Şemdinli Penal Court of Peace on 26 November 2010 on the grounds that he threw stones to law-enforcement officers in the protest in Şemdinli District of Hakkâri Province on 23 November 2010 (ANF, 26 November).
Six children were detained in the protest in Kadifekale Quarter of Konak District of İzmir Province on 26 November 2010 on the grounds that they threw stones to law-enforcement officers (ANF, 27 November).
