(12/109) Random firing in Istanbul Province…
Shopkeeper Tugrul Erdemirci (32) and police officer M.G. (22) quarrelled after M.G. parked his car in front of the Erdemirci’s shop in Bayrampasa District of Istanbul Province on 24 December. Officer fired fife times aiming his gun to air. Demirci wounded with two bullets. Demirci and M.G. made official complaints against each other (CHA, 25 December).
(12/110) Attack in Universities…
On 25 December members of the Communist Party of Turkey -Türkiye Komünist Partisi (TKP)- made a public statement on the incident in which one of their friends was beaten in Marmara University in Istanbul Province. Right wingers attacked on the group and wounded six students with choppers (Hürriyet, 25 December).
(12/111) Coercion in prison…
Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Human Rights Commission declared a report after a visit to the Balikesir Bandirma M Type Closed Prison on 26 December. According to the report 31 prisoners have to live in a room for 16 people and some of them have to sleep on chairs. A prisoner claimed that he was beaten on the grounds that he did not saluted the director and some of the prisoners became insane because of the torture inflicted on them also mentioned in the report (Radikal, 26 December).
(12/112) Attack on party building…
On 24 December unidentified people threw stones to Justice and Development Party (AKPJustice and Development Party ) Eskisehir election coordination centre and caused material damage (Milliyet, 25 December).
