Ahmet Çıngıl (32) was beaten and subjected to tear gas in Salih İşgören Police Station on the grounds that he demanded blood test instead of alcohol test based on breath in Balçova District of İzmir Province on 11 August 2011. Ahmet Çıngıl’s chin bone was fractured and he has loss of sight. His medical treatment is still going on in Dokuz Eylül University’s Hospital (Radikal, 23 August).

Kemal Tunç was beaten and subjected to tear gas and reverse hand-cuff ha in Akdere Police Station in Mamak District of Ankara Province on 17 August 2011. According to the narrative of Tunç the police officers were incited by his opponent by saying “he is a member of PKKKurdish Workers' Party ” (Evrensel, 23 August).

(08/046) Ongoing KCKUnion of Communities in Kurdistan case in Ağrı Province…
On 23 August 2011 Erzurum Heavy Penal Court No. 2 went on hearing the case against 10 defendant who had been detained in the operation against Koma Ciwaken Kurdistan-Kurdistan Communities League /Assembly of Turkey (KCK/TMKCK Par lament Turkey ), the KCK is the intend to organize the Kurdish people as an umbrella organization that includes Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Doğubayazıt District of Ağrı Province on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” under Article 7/2 of Fighting with Terrorism Law. After taking the legal arguments of the defendants the court adjudicated to prolong the pre-trial detention process of the defendants (Milliyet, 23 August).

Four out of the 12 detainees who had been detained in the operation against Patriotic Democratic Youth was arrested in Yüksekova District of Hakkâri Province on 23 August 2011 (Zaman, 23 August).
