(04/092) YSK prevented the candidates of the Labour, Freedom and Democracy Blog and extra-judicial killing in Bismil District…

After Higher Board of Election (YSK) had cancelled of candidacies of 12 independent applicants including the candidates of the Labour, Freedom and Democracy Blog -Hatip Dicle, Leyla Zana, Sebahat Tuncel, Ertuğrul Kürkçü ve Gültan Kışanak- due to their criminal records with its decision on 18 April 2011 many protests were organised on 20 April 2011.

İbrahim Oruç (17) was killed and five others were wounded with police fire in Bismil District of Diyarbakır Province. As a reaction to the police fire the group set fire the Justice and Development Party’s (AKPJustice and Development Party ) District branch office. The Minister of Interior Affairs Osman Güneş claimed that the law-enforcement officers used proportional force in the intervention to the protest that Oruç was killed.

The members of the Mustazaf-Der (legal organisation of Turkey’s Hezbollah) attacked on the protest and seven people were wounded and 6 people were detained. Three people were wounded and 52 people were detained in the intervention of police teams to the protest in Hakkâri Province. Eight people were wounded and a person was detained in Yüksekova District. Seven people were detained in Doğubayazıt District of Ağrı Province.

Zeliha Kesik (9) was seriously wounded with the hit of a gas bomb shell that was fired by the police teams interfering to the protest against the decision of YSK in Silopi District of Şırnak Province (Radikal; ANF; ntvmsnbc.com; Zaman; yeniozgurpolitika.com, 20 April-21 April).

(04/093) Operations and clashes in South-east…

Diyarbakır Governor Mustafa Toprak announced on 20 April 2011 that a temporary village guards was killed and three others were wounded in the clash between guards and Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKKKurdish Workers' Party ) armed wing People’s Defence Forces (HPGPeople's Defence Forces (armed wing of the PKK) ) in the rural part of Kulp District of Diyarbakır Province on 19 April 2011 (Milliyet, 20 April).

(04/094) The Case on Sivas Massacre…

Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 11 sentenced Bülent Düvenci to life sentence in connection with his role in the Sivas Massacre in which 33 people were killed in Madımak Hotel in Sivas Province on 2 July 1993 on charges of “attempting to change the constitutional order by force” under Article 146/1 of the previous TPCTurkish Penal Code on 20 April 2011. He had been a fugitive and his case was segregated from the other defendants (Vatan, 20 April).

(04/095) Incidents before the general election for the deputies on 12 June 2011…

Unidentified person(s) threw fragmentation bomb to the AKP’s Regional Representative in Üsküdar District of İstanbul Province on 21 April 2011 causing material damage (cnnturk.com, 21 April).

Seven members of BDPPeace and Democracy Party were detained as they were distributing communiqués for election in Ergani District of Diyarbakır Province on 20 April 2011 (ANF, 20 April).

(04/096) KCKUnion of Communities in Kurdistan Case in Hakkâri Province…

The indictment of Van Chief Public Prosecution Office against 15 defendants who had been detained in the operations in june 2010 in Hakkâri and Yüksekova on charges of being a member of Koma Ciwaken Kurdistan-Kurdistan Communities League /Assembly of Turkey (KCK/TMKCK Par lament Turkey ), the KCK is the intend to organize the Kurdish people as an umbrella organization that includes Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) was accepted by Van Heavy Penal Court No. 3 on 20 April 2011. Eventually twelve out of the 15 detainees were arrested (Cumhuriyet, 20 April).

(04/097) Intervention to the protest in Adana Province...

Municipal police interfered to the five students from the Federation of High School Students in İnönü Park Adana Province on 20 April 2011 who had started a hunger strike demanding the release of Ferhat Tüzer and Berna Yılmaz who had been detained and eventually arrested after they opened a banner for “free education” in an activity in which Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had participated in Istanbul Province on 14 March 2010. Municipal police dragged the students on the ground to take them out of the park (Milliyet, 20 April).
