(12/095) Private security officers attacked on person...
Private security officers of the Beyoğlu Eye Training and Survey Hospital stabbed Murat Kılıç (25) from his back in İstanbul Province on 16 December 2009. Three of the officers were detained (Zaman, 16 December).
(12/096) Torture and ill-treatment in detention…
S.M. (15) and M.D. (12) were detained as “suspects” on the grounds that they don’t have ID cards on them in İstanbul Province on 13 December 2009 and they were transferred to the 75. Yıl Police Station with a taxi. It is claimed that officers made the taxi driver beat the children and S.M. was put into a different cell and also beaten in the station. His both arms were fractured and they were arrested with the testimonies under torture (Evrensel, 16 December).

Ali Haydar Karaçam who had been kidnapped by civil police officers as he was walking in Başakşehir District of İstanbul Province on 10 December 2009 made a public statement in Human Rights Association’s (HRAHuman Rights Association /IHD) İstanbul Branch on 16 December 2009. He claimed that he was beaten and threatened with death and released after seven hours without proceeding (kizilbayrak.net, 16 December).

Two prisoners in Tekirdağ F Type Prison -Cengiz Atsız and Aydın Yalvaç- were sentenced with solitary confinement and ban of communication for two months on the grounds that they used their pyjamas in cleaning, reported on 16 December 2009 (Günlük, 16 December).
(12/099) Incidents in the protests after the closure of DTP…
Turan Bilen (39) who killed two persons and wounded seven other in the demonstration in Bulanık District of Muş Province on 15 December 2009 and his brother were arrested on 16 December 2009. Law enforcement officers interfered the funeral of Necmi Oral (19) who was killed in the incident with pressured water and papper gas (ntvmsnbc.com, 16 December).
Three out of the fifteen people who had been detained in connection with demonstration in Van Province on 12 December 2009, eight of the ten detainees Erciş District of Van Province, 12 detainees in Batman Province, four out of the 15 detainees in İstanbul Province, fife juveniles in Adana Province on 13 December 2009 and two detainees in İzmir Province were arrested 16 December 2009
Ten people in Erciş District of Van Province, and eight people in Siirt Province were detained on 16 December 2009 (Gündem; ANF; Zaman, 16 December).

On 16 December 2009 police teams interfered the protest of the contracted workers of the fire department of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality who were informed that their contacts will be cancelled at the end of the year with pressured water and gas bombs in Saraçhane Park in Istanbul Province (ntvmsnbc.com, 16 December).
(12/101) Intervention to the protest of the workers of TEKEL…
Two workers had heath attack in the intervention of the police teams to the protests of the TEKEL workers against the privatisation of the some of the factories and working as a contracted employee in some of the factories in front of the General Centre of the Justice and Development Party (AKPJustice and Development Party ) and in Abdi İpekçi Park in Ankara Province with pressured water and gas on 16 December 2009 (sendika.org, 16 December).
(12/102) Intervention to the protest of the workers of railways…
The administration of the State’s Railways Corporation (TCDD) had removed sixteen workers from their offices after the strike for one day that had been organised by the Confederation of Public Employees Trade Unions (KESKConfederation of Trade Union in the Public Sector ) and the Confederation of the Public Workers’ Trade Unions of Turkey (Türkiye Kamu-Sen) on 25 November 2009. Police teams interfered the solidarity protest of the workers of the TCDD with excessive use of force and detained 5 workers 16 December 2009 in Haydarpaşa Railway Station in Istanbul Province. The administration of TCDD removed 30 more workers from their offices after the intervention (sendika.org, 16 December).

Unidentified people threw stones to the Democratic Society Party’s (DTP) İzmir Province Branch office and broke the windows of it on16 December 2009 (ANF, 16 December).
