(11/038) The case on the murder of Alaattin Karadağ…
Bakırköy Heavy Penal Court No. 9 went on hearing the case against the police officer Oğuzhan Vural in connection with the murder of Alaattin Karadağ on the grounds that he did not obey the stop warning in Esenyurt District of İstanbul Province on 19 November 2009 on 9 November 2010.
The court declined the demands of Contemporary Lawyers Association (ÇHD), Human Rights Association (IHD) and Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (HRFTHuman Rights Foundation of Turkey ) to be the intervening party in the case and heard the witness Ertuğrul Bal. The court adjudicated to conduct a expedition in the scene of crime on 25 March 2011 and adjourned the hearing to 21 April 2011 (kizilbayrak.net, 9 November).

Şanlıurfa Penal Court of First Instance began to hear the case against 78 protestors in connection with the protest in Şanlıurfa Province on 14 February 2010 on charges of “opposing to the Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations” on 9 November 2010. After taking the legal arguments of the 20 defendants the court adjourned the hearing to hear the rest (ANF, 9 November).

Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 5 sentenced 9 people to 10 months of imprisonment in connection with participating in the funeral in Şenyuva Village of Mazıdağı District of Mardin Province on 23 April 2008 of Yavuz Şan who was killed in the clash between Turkish Armed Forces and Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKK) armed wing People’s Defence Forces (HPG) in Erzurum Province in 2008 on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” under Article 7/2 of Fighting with Terrorism Law on 9 November 2010 (ANF, 9 November).
