(05/036) Raids on association offices in Istanbul Province…
Istanbul Security Directorate’s Fighting with Terrorism Department teams raided on Okmeydanı Haklar ve Özgürlükler Derneği (Rights and Freedoms Association), Gençlik Dernekleri Federasyonu (Federation of Youth Associations) and İdil Kültür Merkezi (İdil Culture Centre) in Okmeydanı Quarter of Şişli District of İstanbul Province in the morning of 10 May 2011 and detained 34 people including three members of the Grup Yorum (leftist music group) on charges of being in connection with illegal Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front -Devrimci Halk Kurtuluş Cephesi (DHKP/CRevolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front ) (cnnturk.com, 10 May).
(05/037) Detentions and arrests…
On 9 May 2011 thirty-eight people were detained in Eruh District of Siirt Province and Bismil District of Diyarbakır Province on the grounds that they had participated in the protest against the ban decision of the High Election Board against the independent candidates (Milliyet; Vatan, 9 May).
Twenty-one out of the 22 detainees who were detained in Bismil District of Diyarbakır Province on 6 May 2011 on the grounds that they have participated in the protest against the clash in which 4 militants had been killed in Pülümür District of Tunceli Province on 26 April 2011 were arrested on 9 May 2011 (ANF, 9 May).
