(04/050) Operations and clashes in South-east…

A soldier was killed and six others were wounded with the explosion of a mine in the vicinity of Çiğdemlik Village of Amasya Province on 9 April 2012.

(04/051) Death in prison…

Burhan Üçdağ informed by the administration of Antalya L Type Prison that his brother Adem Üçdağ was committed suicide on 31 March 2012. He applied to the Human Rights Association (IHD) for an investigation on 9 April 2012.

(04/052) The Case on the massacre in Zirve Publishing house…

On 9 April 2012 Malatya Heavy Penal Court No. 3 held the 38th hearing in the case on the killing of Tilman Ekkehart Geske, Necati Aydın and Uğur Yüksel on 18 April 2007 in Zirve publishing house in Malatya Province because of proselytising. The court stated that the documents of “internet memorandum” and “Action plan for Fighting with Rationalism” case were sent by İstanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 13 in DVD format and add to the case document. After hearing defendant Varol Bülent Aral the court adjourned the hearing to 18 June 2012.

Six prisoners were transferred from Sincan (Ankara) Kadın Prison for Females to Şakran (İzmir) T Type Prison and four others were transferred from Giresun E Type Prison to Bayburt M Type Prison against their consent on 9 April 2012.

(04/054) Ongoing KCK/TMKCK Par lament Turkey Main Case…

Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 6 went on hearing the case against 152 defendants -99 of them are pre-trial detainees, 19 fugitives- who had been detained in the Koma Ciwaken Kurdistan-Kurdistan Communities League /Assembly of Turkey (KCK/TM), the KCKUnion of Communities in Kurdistan is the intend to organize the Kurdish people as an umbrella organization that includes Kurdistan Workers Party (PKKKurdish Workers' Party ), operations on 14 April, 11 and 17 June and 25 December 2009 on charges of “constituting an illegal structure and acting in the context of it” on 9 April 2012.

Evidences concerning the defendant Alaattin Aktaş began to be read in the hearing in Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 6. The court prolonged the pre-trial detention period of the defendants till the next hearing on 11 April 2012.

(04/055) The two cases on Hopa Incidents merged…

Hopa Penal Court of First Instance began to hear the case against defendants, Şinasi Gümüşkaya, Cengiz Akyüz, Şaban Kotil, İdris Akbıyık and Şafak Ustabaş, in connection with the Hopa incidents in which Metin Lokumcu was killed due to gas bombs just before the meeting of the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Hopa District of Artvin Province on 31 May 2011, on 9 April 2012. The court adjudicated to merge the case with the one against defendants, Erhan Köse, İbrahim Aksu, Yunus Aksu and Ender Yalçın, on 9 April 2012 on the grounds that the two cases were related de facto and de jure.

Five people were detained in the home raids of the law-enforcement officers in Çaldıran District of Van Province on 9 April 2012.

Police teams detained 8 people synchronised home raids on charges of throwing stones to law-enforcement officers in various protests in Diyarbakır Province on 9 April 2012

(04/058) KCK operation Adıyaman Province…

Ten members of the Democratic Liberated Students Association were detained in synchronised home raids as a part of the KCK investigation in Adıyaman İstanbul, Mersin and Diyarbakır Provinces on 9 April 2012.

Seven people were detained synchronised home raids on charges of “helping and harbouring an illegal organisation” in Van, İstanbul and Iğdır Provinces on 9 April 2012.

Forty-one students who attempted to protest President Abdullah Gül in Kocaeli University on 6 April 2012 were detained in the intervention of police teams and private security officers. They were also beaten as being apprehended.

(04/063) Detention operations after Newroz Celebrations…

Etkin News Agency (ETHA) reporter Çağdaş Küçükbattal, the Socialist Party for the Oppressed’s (ESP) İstanbul Province Branch Executive and Democratic Congress of the People’s (HDK) İstanbul Province Coordination Board member Erdal Demirhan and Hasan Tunç were detained in home raids in İstanbul Province on 10 April 2012 in connection with the Newroz Celebration in İstanbul province on 20 March 2012.
