(02/065) Extra-judicial killing in Bingöl Province…
Nine people were killed and three others were wounded in the operation of the gendarmerie to a house in Ilıcalar Municipality of Bingöl Province on 9 February 2012. The people in the house were allegedly militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKKKurdish Workers' Party ) armed wing People’s Defence Forces (HPGPeople's Defence Forces (armed wing of the PKK) ) (bingol.gov.tr, 9 February).

Mehmet Şirin Ari, an executive of the Peace and Democracy Party’s (BDPPeace and Democracy Party ) Province Branch, who had been detained in home raid in Batman Province 8 February 2012, was arrested on charges of “opposing to the Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations” on 9 February 2012 (ANF, 9 February).
