(07/023)The case of Emrah Gezer…
Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 9 went on hearing the case against the police officer Serkan Akbulut (32) in connection with killing Emrah Gezer on the grounds that he was singing in Kurdish in a bar in Ankara Province in the night of 26 December 2009 on charges of “homicide” on 7 July 2011.
The court adjourned the hearing on the grounds that the report of Zafer Şimşek (the friend of Emrah Gezer who was also wounded in the incident) was not sent from Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute to the court to 28 July 2011 (Milliyet, 7 July).

A soldier was wounded with the explosion of a land mine in the rural part of the Tunceli Province on 6 July 2011 (Zaman, 7 July).
Two soldiers were wounded in the clash between Turkish Armed Forces and Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKKKurdish Workers' Party ) armed wing People’s Defence Forces (HPGPeople's Defence Forces (armed wing of the PKK) ) in the rural part of the Çakırkaya Village of Pülümür District of Tunceli’ Province on 7 July 2011 (Hürriyet, 7 July).
(07/026) Ongoing KCKUnion of Communities in Kurdistan Case in Gaziantep Province…
Adana Heavy Penal Court No. 8 went on hearing the case against 52 defendants -12 of them pre-trial detainees- who had been detained in Gaziantep Province on charges of “being a member of an illegal organisation -Koma Ciwaken Kurdistan-Kurdistan Communities League /Assembly of Turkey (KCK/TMKCK Par lament Turkey ), the KCK is the intend to organize the Kurdish people as an umbrella organization that includes Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK)” under Article 314 of TPCTurkish Penal Code on 6 July 2011.
Eleven pre-trial detainees were not brought to court because there were not enough fund for it. After taking the legal argument of the pre-trial detainee that was brought to hearing the court adjourned the hearing to 29 September 2011 (Özgür Gündem, 7 July).
(07/027) Ongoing KCK Case in Kars Province…
Erzurum Heavy Penal Court No. 2 went on hearing the case against 47 defendants -21 of them pre-trial detainees- who had been detained in Kars Province on charges of “being a member of an illegal organisation -KCK” under Article 314 of TPC on 7 July 2011.
The court adjudicated to release 2 pre-trial detainees and arrest other 2 defendants and adjourned the hearing to 6 September 2011 (ANF, 7 July).
(07/028) The closure case against the trade union…
Ankara Labour Court No. 15 went on hearing the case closure against the Trade Union of Judges and Prosecutors (YARGI-SEN) which was launched by Ankara Governorate on 29 June 2011. The court decided to ask the union whether any changes were made in its rules in the general assembly of the union on 19 June 2011 (Akşam, 29 June).
