Two militants were killed in the clash between Turkish Armed Forces and Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKKKurdish Workers' Party ) armed wing People’s Defence Forces (HPGPeople's Defence Forces (armed wing of the PKK) ) in Nusaybin District of Mardin Province on 7 May 2011 (ntvmsnbc.com, 7 May).

A.Y. (17) was allegedly committed suicide due to his psychological problems in Düzce B Type Closed Prison on 8 May 2011. The prisoners set the furniture into fire to protest the incident. The riot was halted after the discussions and it is reported that a guardian was wounded in the incident (Radikal, 8 May).
(05/030) The case on the murder of Şerzan Kurt…
On 6 May 2011 Eskişehir Heavy Penal Court No. 1 went on hearing the case on the murder of Şerzan Kurt (21) who was killed by police officer Gültekin Şahin with the order of Deniz Alemdar, the director of the Fighting with Terrorism Branch in the intervention of the police teams to the fight between Kurdish students of Muğla University and a racist group in Muğla Province on 11 May 2010.
The witness of the defendant’s lawyer Hüseyin Mandıracı was heard. The court adjudicated to hear a secret witness in the next hearing and adjourned the hearing to1 July 2011 (ANF, 6 May).
(05/031) The case of Ferhat Gerçek…
Bakırköy Heavy Penal Court No. 9 went on hearing the case against 13 defendants (7 of them are police officers) in connection with the incident in which Ferhat Gerçek had been wounded with police fire in Yenibosna District of Istanbul Province on 7 October 2007 and eventually paralysed on 6 May 2011.
In the hearing the bullet which had been shot Gerçek, was claimed to be lost in the Forensic Medicine Institute. The court adjourned the hearing in order to learn the situation of the bullet (Radikal, 7 May).

Vice director of a private primary school A.N.A. beat his student A.U. (14) on the grounds that he was naughty in Başakşehir District of İstanbul Province on 5 May 2011. The father of the student made a official complaint against the director after taking a health report (Milliyet, 7 May).

Erzurum Heavy Penal Court No. 2 sentenced M. Şirin Tunç, one of the 34 members of the “Peace and Democratic Solution Group” who came to Turkey from Kandil Mountain and Maxmur Camp in Northern Iraq on 19 October 2009, to two years of imprisonment in connection with his speech in Diyadin District of Ağrı Province on 2 December 2009 on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” under Article 7/2 of Fighting with Terrorism Law on 5 May 2011 (Gündem, 6 May).

Unidentified person(s) attacked on the Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) District Branch office with a sound bomb causing material damage in Çınar District of Diyarbakır Province on 6 May 2011 (ANF, 7 May).
Unidentified person(s) attacked on the Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) election office with a sound bomb causing material damage in Buca District of İzmir Province on 8 May 2011 (ntvmsnbc.com, 8 May).
Right-wingers attacked on the opening of the election office of the Labour, Freedom and Democracy Blog in Gölcük District of Kocaeli Province on 8 May 2011. The office was destructed with the attack (ANF, 9 May).
Fourteen people were detained in the opening of the Selahattin Demirtaş’s, an independent deputy candidate in Hakkâri Province supported by the Labour, Freedom and Democracy Blog, election office on 7 May 2011 (ANF, 7 May).
(05/035) Detentions and arrests…
Seventeen members of the Democratic Patriotic Youth (DYG) were detained in home raids in Çukurca District of Hakkâri Province on 6 May 2011 (ANF, 6 May).
Seven detainees who had been detained in home raids in Dörtyol District of Hatay Province on 3 May 2011 were arrested on charges of “being a member of an illegal organisation –KCKUnion of Communities in Kurdistan ” on 6 May 2011 (ANF, 6 May).
Police teams stopped the group who visited the grave of the HPG militant Şerafettin Can, who had been killed in the clash in Pülümür District of Tunceli Province on 26 April 2011 and detained 66 people in Solhan District of Bingöl Province. Three of the detainees were eventually arrested (ANF, 6 May).
Police teams detained seven people who had constructed a tent for hunger strike with the demand of Free Education in Edirne Province on 6 May 2011 (Milliyet, 6 May).
Ten people in Kumçatı Municipality of Şırnak Province and 18 people in Eruh District of Siirt Province were detained on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” on 6 May 2011 (Zaman, 6 May).
Ten out of the 20 detainees who had been detained in the incidents after the funeral of the 4 HPG militants who had been killed in the clash in Pülümür District of Tunceli Province on 26 April 2011, were arrested on 7 May 2011 (ANF, 7 May).
