(12/028) Operations and clashes in South-east…
A soldier was killed and another one was wounded in the clash between Turkish armed Forces and Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKKKurdish Workers' Party ) armed wing People’s Defence Forces (HPGPeople's Defence Forces (armed wing of the PKK) ) in Nusaybin District of Mardin Province on 4 December 2009 (tsk.tr, 4 December).
Two HPG militants were killed in the clash in the mountainous region Şırnak Province (Zaman, 5 December).

An unidentified person was wounded in the explosion in the vicinity of Demirkuyu Village of Silvan District of Diyarbakır Province (tsk.tr, 6 December).

Two people were wounded in the explosion of a sound bomb that took place in Kocavezir Park of Seyhan District of Adana Province on 4 December 2009 (ntvmsnbc.com, 4 December).

According to the public statement of the İstanbul Bar Association on 4 December 2009 Lawyer Ümit Ulaş, who had been apprehended by two civil police officers in Sıraselviler Quarter of İstanbul Province was beaten in Taksim Police Centre in the night of 29 November 2009. Another unidentified lawyer was claimed to be beaten in the same day (Evrensel, 6 December).

Several incidents took place in the 31st anniversary of the foundation of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) (27 November 1978) and in the demonstrations to attract attention to the prison conditions of Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı F Type Closed Prison.
Dicle University’s student Aydın Erdem (23) was killed with police fire from his back from short distance in the intervention of police teams to the protest in Diyarbakır Province on 6 December 2009 (ntvmsnbc.com, 6 December).
İzmir Security Directorate’s Fighting with Terrorism Department police teams detained 15 people in İzmir Province in the morning of 4 December 2009.Six out of the eleven detainees were arrested on 6 December 2009
Five people were detained in Van Province in connection with the demonstration on 4 December 2009.
57 people were detained in Mersin Province in the operation after the demonstration on 4 December 2009. 35 detainees were arrested on 6 December 2009.
B.S. and G.Ç. who had been detained with 15 0ther people in Ağrı Province were arrested on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” 4 December 2009.
Police teams detained 49 people in the incidents during and after the march named “Freedom and Democracy” in Şanlıurfa Province on 5 December 2009.
Faruk Diri, Nizam Kırkağaç and a police officer were wounded in meeting in Yüksekova District of Hakkâri Province on 5 December 2009.

On 7 December 2009 İstanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 10 adjudicated to arrest 10 out of the fifteen people –DTP’s Esenler District of Province chairperson Yılmaz Dursun was one of them- who had been detained in İstanbul Province on 5 December 2009 (ntvmsnbc.com, 7 December).
Harun Özlü, Kenan Gür, Emine Kiye and Şeref Aşkan who had been detained in Van Province with three other people were arrested on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” on 6 December 2009.
Cizre Security Directorate’s Juvenile Department detained eight juveniles and Şükrü Özalp (19) in home raids on 2 December 2009. The administration of İmralı F Type Closed Prison sentenced Abdullah Öcalan to solitary confinement for 20 days on charges of “giving orders for action” reported on 4 December 2009 (Milliyet, 4 December).
(12/035) Convicted mayor…
On 4 December 2009 Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 4 sentenced the mayor of Siirt Province, Selim Sadak, to two years of imprisonment in connection with his speech in a funeral on July 2009 on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” under Article 7/2 of Fighting with Terrorism Law (Gündem, 4 December).

It is reported on 6 December 2009 that the access to the personal blog site of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Carl Bildt, http://carlbildt.wordpress.com, was restricted in connection with articles on the incidents in 1915 (ANF, 6 December).

Unidentified people attacked on Democratic Society Party’s (DTP) District Branch office with stones causing material damage in Edremit District of Balıkesir Province on 3 December 2009 (Gündem, 4 December).
Unidentified people attacked on DTP’s District Branch office with firearms causing material damage in Küçükçekmece District of İstanbul Province on 4 December 2009 (atilim.org, 6 December).
DTP’s District Branch office was set ablaze by unidentified people in Karaköprü Municipality of Şanlıurfa Province on 5 December 2009 (ANF, 6 December).
