Turkish General Staff announced in its official website that a Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKKKurdish Workers' Party ) armed wing People’s Defence Forces (HPGPeople's Defence Forces (armed wing of the PKK) ) militant was killed in the clash in Şırnak Province on 30 November 2009 (tsk.tr, 30 November).

A child was wounded in the explosion of three sound bombs in Zeytinburnu District of İstanbul Province on 30 November 2009 (atilim.org, 1 December).

On 1 December 2009 two police officers -M.Ç. and M.A.- was arrested in connection with wounding S.K. (16) as they had been evaluating theft complaints in Şerife Akkanat Primary School in Selçuklu District of Konya Province in the night of 27 November 2009 (ntvmsnbc.com, 1 December).

On 1 December 2009 Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 5 went on hearing the case against three defendants in connection with bombing attack in Koşuyolu Park in Diyarbakır Province on 12 September 2006 in which 10 people were killed and 16 people were wounded.
The court prolonged the pre-trial detention period of the defendants -Hikmet Topal, Burhan Güneş and Murat Ekin- and decided to take a witness’s testimony without the presence of the defendants (Gündem, 1 December).

Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecution Office finalised the indictment on the incident in which Güney Tuna (21) was beaten in a park in Avcılar District of İstanbul Province on 3 October 2009 and sent the indictment to Bakırköy Heavy Penal Court. The prosecutor asked for an imprisonment up to 18 years against police officer Muhammed Bağcı who had beaten Tuna on charges of “torturing”, “tormenting” and “wounding”. The prosecutor also launched cases against seven police officers on charges of “negligence in office” and the physician who gave “healthy report” to Tuna on charges of “misconduct in office” (ntvmsnbc.com; Zaman, 1 December).

Sivas Heavy Penal Court began to hear the case against a journalist, Fuat Doğansoy, who had been beaten in Sivas Province on 15 March 2009 as he went there to prepare a documentary on the Sivas Massacre in connection with his interviews with TV channels after the attack on charges of “inciting people to hatred and enmity” under Article 216 of TPCTurkish Penal Code reported on 1 December 2009 (TİHV, 1 December).

Ümraniye Penal Court of Peace began to hear the case against the 150 defendants who gave petitions to Ümraniye Chief Public Prosecution Office in the framework of the campaign “if referring to Abdullah Öcalan as ‘honourable’ is a crime I am committing that crime and denouncing myself” on 16 June 2008 on charges of “praising crime and criminal” under the Article of 215/1 of TPC on 1 December 2009. The hearing was postponed to a further date to finalise taking the testimonies of the defendants (ANF, 1 December).
